Spider-Woman is a Marvel Comics superheroine who first appeared in Marvel Spotlight #32 in February 1977. She was created by writer Archie Goodwin and artist Marie Severin. The character was originally created due to the popularity of Spider-Man, but Marvel wanted to create a new female character that could stand on her own. The original Spider-Woman was Jessica Drew, who gained her powers after being injected with an experimental serum containing spider DNA. Since then, there have been multiple iterations of the character with different origins and powers.
